Bring your own device (BYOD) is truly gaining momentum among businesses, and it will only continue to do so as we move through 2013. Even though it provides many advantages and conveniences to employees across the board, it is also associated with few disadvantages, such as higher lifecycle asset management costs, mobile phone number ownership problems and dependency on Voice over IP (VoIP) technology that has poor voice quality, to name a few.
In an effort to eliminate critical BYOD mobile phone number ownership problems as well as to lower the costs of lifecycle asset management, Movirtu – a developer and marketer of innovative identity solutions for mobile operators – has unveiled a new virtual SIM-based solution, WorkLife.
Initially available for Apple iOS and Android (News - Alert) phones, the new Movirtu WorkLife will enable mobile operators to offer a virtual SIM-based service to businesses to assign corporate numbers as a second mobile number to smartphones owned by employees.
Based on Movirtu's patented Virtual SIM platform, the new WorkLife leverages existing network infrastructure, thereby eliminating the need for VoIP, a second or replacement SIM, or OS virtualization.
Movirtu's patented Virtual SIM platform allows multiple numbers to be active on a single, standard SIM card. This platform is based on standard mobile network technology, providing the basis for a variety of innovative service offerings when integrated into the operator's network.
Since the WorkLife is based on Movirtu's Virtual SIM platform, it is an ideal solution to the critical BYOD mobile number ownership problem, which allows multiple numbers to be associated with a handset.
In addition, WorkLife also allows for separate personal and/or business billing, and allows businesses to safeguard corporate phone number assets while reducing lifecycle asset management costs. The separate personal/business billing leads to minimal administrative overheads for businesses.
Apart from being complementary to mobile virtualization and device management solutions, the Movirtu WorkLife can be deployed in any standard GSM network. It uses an intuitive, color-coded smartphone app to switch seamlessly between employees' corporate and personal profiles on the handset to initiate outgoing calls and text messages.
As the first operator-centric solution to the BYOD mobile phone number problem, Movirtu WorkLife is designed for businesses with sales teams and other mobile employees handling sensitive contacts, as it protects business phone numbers as a corporate asset, while at the same time, allowing employees to benefit from using their own smartphones at work.
Additionally, the solution enables businesses to remotely remove the corporate number from its employee's device both quickly and securely when an employee leaves the organization.

- SIM Management for Mobile Termination
To offer better rates on local mobile networks, Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs) have to optimize Call Termination costs and maximize SIM cards usage. - SIM Management for M2M Platform Validation
The M2M solutions deployment is very complex and difficult to test and validate in the lab. Gateways and probes on-site deployment are subject to numerous constraints such as GSM 3G coverage, unexpected multi-operator roaming, international roaming, tariff and service restrictions. - SIM Management for Mobile Testing
In order for a Mobile Network Operator to be successful, reduce churn and increase customer loyalty, the need to shift from testing network to perform a complete “end to end” QoS Testing has become obvious.
