A recent report by Ritesim.com, a U.K.-based supplier of local pay-as-you-go SIM cards, reveals the top five most expensive countries to phone home from. Compiling the expensive list were Uganda, India, USA, Thailand and China – all locations which the company claims using a local SIM card for can significantly increase savings.
One example the report sites is when calling the U.K. from China, you can be looking at £1.65 per minute – or $2.65. Even a brief five minute conversation will amount to $13.25, or about three or four trips to Starbucks for coffee. Apparently with Ritesim.com’s SIM card, these costs are cut by almost 70 percent, narrowing down to a mere £0.04 per minute – or six cents in U.S. currency.
Also consider phoning the U.K. from India. The report claims a leading global SIM company would charge a whopping £3.10 per minute, and yet a cost-efficient SIM card would knock that number down to only £0.14 per minute.
“While all three SIM card competitors placed a charge on receiving phone calls from the UK, all of Ritesim.com’s SIM cards allow incoming calls to be accepted free of charge,” this related article adds.
For example, if you’re traveling to Uganda, you can find yourself shelling out £6.00 per MB of data, while you’ll only pay £0.02 when using a Ritesim.com SIM card – ultimately offering the same amount of data for a fraction of the price.
John Butterfield, director of Ritesim.com, said explained how the company is well-aware of this need of travelers everywhere, saying, "We recognize that travelers increasingly want to share their adventures with loved ones back home while they’re still away via outlets like Facebook, Twitter (News - Alert) and Instagram, so the local SIM cards we provide have been carefully selected to provide the best value for money on the market."
So if you’re feeling homesick or are looking to speak to a loved one in your native land, you might want to consider investing in solutions such as those offered by Ritesim.com.
