Everyone who’s anyone knows that the all-new iPhone (News - Alert) 5 will be officially released tomorrow, and one company is looking to capitalize on a very interesting aspect which the entire iPhone family seems to be missing.
thumbsUp!, a UK-based developer of gifts, designs and self-described “ingenious gadgets,” has recently unveiled its new Dual SIM iPhone Case. Dual-SIM functionality is a highly desirable trait in phones today, and this case works to allow users to carry two SIM cards at the same time, which then can be switched out by simply powering down your phone and flipping a switch on the back of the case. Furthermore, it supports micro as well as normal-sized SIM cards, and appears to connect into the iPhone’s side SIM slot, according to this technabob article.
This is interesting, seeing how there were rumors swirling about over the summer that Apple (News
- Alert) might need a new SIM server for its newest addition. It was then discovered that the iPhone 5 would be boasting extremely small SIM cards called nano-SIMs as a part of its highly-anticipated expansion. What’s especially interesting, though, is the point technabob makes – no official iPhone has dual-SIM functionality (yet), “which is probably one of the reasons why [the company] released [it].”
“Having a phone that can easily switch between SIM cards is very convenient, especially if you travel a lot,” says technabob. “Usually, you’d have to manually take out a SIM card and insert another one in its place, unless you’ve got one of those off-market phones with multiple SIM slots. The thumbsUp! case makes this process easier, if you happen to have an iPhone.”
The case, which costs about $50, works for the iPhone 4/4S, which means if you plan to upgrade, you may want to wait for a compatible case release before embracing the iPhone 5. For those of you content with your current iPhone 4, this case is self-described as “the ideal tool for travelling or business,” as it requires no software installation or tool switching.

- SIM Management for Mobile Termination
To offer better rates on local mobile networks, Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs) have to optimize Call Termination costs and maximize SIM cards usage. - SIM Management for M2M Platform Validation
The M2M solutions deployment is very complex and difficult to test and validate in the lab. Gateways and probes on-site deployment are subject to numerous constraints such as GSM 3G coverage, unexpected multi-operator roaming, international roaming, tariff and service restrictions. - SIM Management for Mobile Testing
In order for a Mobile Network Operator to be successful, reduce churn and increase customer loyalty, the need to shift from testing network to perform a complete “end to end” QoS Testing has become obvious.
