From VoIP and unified communications to mobile technologies and business video, every aspect of technology was covered on the exhibit floor of last week’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2012 event in Miami Beach. But, for iQsim, a company specializing in SIM servers and GSM termination, it was quite easy to find its niche at the communications conference.
Self-described as the “worldwide leader of virtual SIM technology,” iQsim delivers a complete solution for deploying and operating SIM-related solutions. The France-based company is an industry leader with over 10 years of experience in the market, providing partners with all the tools necessary to deliver call termination services to the wholesale market. Partners can leverage the power of iQsim's SIM server product – known as the IRON Suite – to offer operators competitive call termination rates and highly reliable services for both voice calling and SMS.
However, it was the company’s latest product – IRON SIM Server One – that took the spotlight at ITEXPO East 2012, garnering the Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award for 2011. IRON SIM Server One is a solution delivering SIM server features including SIM allocation and protection, and SIM cards storage. Based on criteria such as credit, service type, location and operator, the IRON SIM Server One selects the most appropriate SIM card, whether it’s pre-paid or post-paid, to optimize call termination costs and maximize SIM cards usage.
Marc Lorenzi, vice president of Operations for iQsim, told TMCnet that ITEXPO was the perfect forum for “exposing our virtual SIM solution and its key elements – SIM Server One and our wireless gateways.”
“We wanted to explain the benefits of our solutions to potential customers and find potential partners in order to address new markets and opportunities,” Lorenzi said.
According to Lorenzi, there is a critical need for virtual SIM technology in the M2M space. “Having the capability to change the SIM or to aggregate SIMs on demand to collect or distribute large amount of data in a small amount of time... can significantly reduce the cost or size the bandwidth of M2M communication between devices,” he said.
Coming off a stellar 2011, iQsim closed its third fiscal year with consecutive revenue growth of 25 percent, finding itself three times the size since 2009, when iQsim first launched. As for 2012, iQsim has two primary goals in mind – to extend its portfolio and delve even deeper into the M2M market.
“The first [objective] is to extend our development on Call and SMS termination and mobile networks QoS testing markets. How? By extending our portfolio with new products and value-added features on existing products. We have been working heavily on new products to be released this year in order to extend our product range and then our market coverage. [The] second objective is to position iQsim strongly on the M2M wireless communication market with an innovative offering. We are actively working on that offering, and we will disclose it later this year,” Lorenzi told TMCnet.

- SIM Management for Mobile Termination
To offer better rates on local mobile networks, Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs) have to optimize Call Termination costs and maximize SIM cards usage. - SIM Management for M2M Platform Validation
The M2M solutions deployment is very complex and difficult to test and validate in the lab. Gateways and probes on-site deployment are subject to numerous constraints such as GSM 3G coverage, unexpected multi-operator roaming, international roaming, tariff and service restrictions. - SIM Management for Mobile Testing
In order for a Mobile Network Operator to be successful, reduce churn and increase customer loyalty, the need to shift from testing network to perform a complete “end to end” QoS Testing has become obvious.
